One of Google´s best practices regarding their advertisements is to focus on quality score.
Having a great keyword list with relevant queries will help you drive that quality score up, so you can enter in more auctions and ultimately drive more conversions.
The following tactics are part of your big picture strategy to drive more business online.
Also, remember that your strategy is dependent on your business and marketing goals.
#1 – Google Search Bar
You´ve used this one yourself, many times over to look for things you want to buy or learn about.
It makes sense for the keyword research process to start, precisely, on Google. This is a great way to discover long-tail keywords.
If you just start typing, for example, the keyword “management software”, you´ll start seeing a bunch of others that could be relevant to target.
On the same note, if you put your mouse cursor right before the word, it will show even more keyword ideas.
#2 – YouTube Search Bar
In a similar fashion, you can use YouTube´s search bar or autocomplete to find relevant keywords to add to your Google Ads campaign.
However, keep in mind that you probably won´t get as many suggestions as you might get on Google.
This is just another way to get some extra ideas for your campaigns or even for content.

#3 – Google Keyword Planner
Yes! The good old friend of ours, Google Keyword Planner. It´s one of my favorite free keyword research tools.
I´m pretty sure you´re already using it, if you´re not, you definitely want to try out the following technique.
You probably already know that Google will spit out a bunch of irrelevant keywords.
So, what you want to do, specifically is go to ADD FILTER and narrow your search by the exact keyword you´re targeting.
This will give you a lot more ideas to use in your next Google Ads campaign.
#4 – Google Search Tabs
The search tabs will expand your keyword search to News, Images and Videos.
You can use the content in there to come up with new keyword ideas for your campaigns.
You can make your keyword search even more productive by taking a quick look at your competitors` advertisements.
#5 – Keywords Everywhere
Ready to take your Google Ads keyword research to the next level?
Introducing… Keywords Everywhere.
As the name suggests, this is a freemium keyword research software that gives you suggestions around the Google search platform, including YouTube.
You can see trend data, related keywords, and also what other people search for.
On YouTube, you can see the tags that creators add to their videos.
I found this to be pretty insightful!
#6 – Google Search Console
Again, another good old friend of content creators.
Google Search Console can provide a wealth of data, particularly when it comes to keywords people are typing in.
You want to be focusing on that Queries tab.
As you can see, I have very little data for this website, so you want to adjust your date range depending on how much traffic you have.
Obviously, the more traffic you have, the more data, the easier it is to find new keyword ideas for your Google Ads campaigns.
